"It is time, for me to tell you what I should have told you five years ago, Harry. Please sit down. I am going to tell you everything."
—Albus Dumbledore

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth book in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. It was published in 2003, though the plot occurs in 1996.

Following the rebirth of Lord Voldemort, the larger wizarding community is largely in denial, with Cornelius Fudge and the Ministry of Magic staunchly suppressing any rumours of his return. Albus Dumbledore is outcast and Harry Potter shunned by association. As the Ministry places Dolores Umbridge at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to monitor events at the school, Harry, Ron and Hermione form the group Dumbledore's Army to resist the Ministry's campaign of disinformation and learn defensive spells.
