- "Unusual combination -- holly and phoenix feather, eleven inches, nice and supple." Harry took the wand. He felt a sudden warmth in his fingers. He raised the wand above his head, brought it swishing down through the dusty air and a stream of red and gold sparks shot from the end like a firework, throwing dancing spots of light on to the walls."
- —Harry and his wand meet.[src]
The wand of Harry Potter is an eleven-inch long instrument of spellcasting, made of holly wood with a core of phoenix feather. He performed many spells with this wand, and as it was the brother of Voldemort's wand, he could produce Priori Incantatem by using a Disarming Charm (Harry's favourite spell) at the same time that Voldemort cast a Killing Curse at him; this happened many times from 1994 to 1997. In the winter of 1997, Harry and his friend traveled to Godric's Hollow, where Voldemort's snake Nagini attempted to kill him. Hermione, acting instinctively, produced a Blasting Curse, which snapped Harry's wand. Luckily, however, the following spring he managed to repair the wand with the help of the Elder Wand.
