Separation?[]
Could we have one page for British wizarding families, one for American wizarding families and one for Muggle ones? Ninclow (talk) 10:59, October 7, 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure it would be possible to easily categorise families this way. For example, the Goldstein family has Tina and Queenie in the US, but Anthony Goldstein in the UK. Is this a US or UK family? Even more complicated is that most of the families in the US emigrated or descended from Old World families (think of the Boot family or Sayre family) so their ancestors and descendants are from different countries. - So magical families with branches both in the UK and the US couldn't be listed on both categories? And why would the Old World descent matter in placing the canonically identified "current" wizarding family names we have learned from Rowling? Ninclow (talk) 13:23, October 8, 2016 (UTC)
- My point is that there is not an easy way to define many families as strictly one nationality, which I took to be the idea from "one page for British families, one page for American." The descendent issue matters as almost all the families we know came from the Old World so there are no known US families by origin, so every family name on the US page is also on the Britain (or other Old World country) page. It may be possible to tag families with nationalities of their familiy members so there are "Family with American individuals", "Family with Irish individuals", etc pages with the understanding that almost every family will appear on multiple pages.
